Software Description

IBS is a novel method for comparing time series based on linguistic analysis of "word" frequency and rank order statistics. It has been applied successfully in a variety of applications, including analysis of interbeat (RR) intervals, classification of the SARS coronavirus, and study of literary works of disputed authorship.

A tutorial introduction to the IBS method is available here, and IBS software may be downloaded from the src directory.

Albert CC Yang has provided an introduction to IBS for general audiences, focusing on analysis of written text, together with an alternative implementation of IBS aimed at textual analysis.
